The Daily Mail are today reporting that Leeds could be close to signing Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland on loan until the end of the season. Mark Hughes is thought to be willing to loan out the youngster after the return of Thomas Sorensen and Brian McDermott has made no attempts to hide his desire for a goalkeeper as current backup Jamie Ashdown is still on the physio table. Butland has already played against us this season when he turned out for Barnsley making two fine saves off Matt Smith to ensure the game finished 0-0, a match which started our recent downturn in form. The move for the England international would no doubt be requiring funds from the takeover should it ever go through and to throw another spanner in the works, Massimo Cellino appears to be having difficulty selling Cagliari despite interest from a Qatari based firm (although Arabs are not always as rich as you think they are). The move would also provide competition for Paddy Kenny whose level of performance has dropped in recent weeks.
