INS
A whole host of names have been linked with moves to Leeds so far with many of those being strikers. Leeds currently lead betting markets in Luciano Becchio (3/1) and Adam Le Fondre (8/13), with Danny Ings (12/1) and Kevin Doyle (12/1) also linked with moves to the club. Billy Sharp who recently returned to Southampton was linked earlier in the window with a return to Yorkshire as was young Cardiff striker Joe Mason (16/1). Finally today, news broke that Leeds were reportedly chasing Leigh Griffiths (16/1) as well as Luke Moore, although it is thought that Forest will win the race to sign the former Villa frontman. A move for Ashley Barnes fell through as he chose to join Burnley, and any interest there was in Nakhi Wells was ended after he moved to the Dog Botherers.
In terms of the rest of the side, Rangers left back Lee Wallace is priced at 33/1 with a move down south although with five professional left backs at the club, I can't see McDermott spending precious funds on a well stocked position. Creativity has been one thing McDermott has been chasing and Robert Snodgrass (25/1) has been linked with what would be a sensational return to the club, it is thought that interest in another player who would make a return, Max Gradel has cooled. Whilst interest in Serge Gnabry tailed off due to first team appearances, it is thought that Leeds remain in the hunt for Gnabry's teammate and compatriot Thomas Eisfeld, who is also an attacking midfielder. Also put supposedly on the back burner is a move for creative midfielder Jimmy Ryan, however we are still reportedly in for his goalkeeping teammate at Chesterfield Tommy Lee.
OUTS
With a lot of dead wood at the squad, it is clear that McDermott would like a clear out, however somewhat surprisingly considering our need for a forward, it is only strikers who have been linked with moves away from the club. McDermott told the local press that he had received loan offers for attacking duo Luke Varney and Dominic Poleon although the names of these two clubs was not disclosed. El-Hadji Diouf's time at Leeds appears to have come to an end and there was early interest in him from French club RC Lens. Ross McCormack, the Championship's top scorer has naturally been linked with a move away from ER with Stoke (14/1) leading the race ahead of Newcastle and Sunderland (both 16/1), his strike partner, Matt Smith whose ban was upheld today was linked with a surprise move with Premier League strugglers Crystal Palace, although he moved quickly to dispell the rumours.
So 15 days in and 2 players in and it is obvious that McDermott wants to strengthen and with (supposedly) funds to spend, it could be a great window yet for us Leeds fans.
