Leeds ended their away day blues with a 4-2 victory over a Charlton side that had previously gone seven and a half hours without conceding a goal.
With McDermott hamstrung by a number of injuries, Pugh and Brown came into the side, with Dexter Blackstock making his first league start of the season, partnering McCormack up front.
After seizing the lead, Leeds fell away and would have conceded were it not for the heroics of Paddy Kenny, saving a point blank Simon Church volley and the generosity of Keith Stroud who waved away a strong Charlton penalty appeal.
Charlton's pressure eventually resulted in a goal as Cameron Stewart superbly volleyed a half clearance into the top corner of the Leeds net, ensuring the two teams were level going into the break.
Cheered on by over 3200 fans, including comedian Jack Whitehall who was at university with Mathieu Smith, Leeds came flying out of the traps and quickly regained the lead. Pugh tumbled in the area under a Harriott challenge, Stroud pointed to the spot and McCormack hammered the penalty straight down the middle.
Charlton had chances to equalise, but Kenny saved superbly from Harriott and Dorian Dervite wildly sliced a corner into the stands when the goal was begging. Addicks' captain Johnnie Jackson looked to have secures a point for the home team as he turned in a Simon Church cross.
McCormack however came up with the goods again only three minutes later as he capitalised on a defensive mix up. Charlton failed to clear a free kick and a mixture of indecision and lack of communication between Dervite, Morrison and Hamer allowed the Scotsman to fire in a close range volley.
It was McCormack who rounded off the scoring again, as he curled a sumptious stoppage time free kick beyond the outstretched Hamer to take all three points back to Yorkshire.
McCormack was undoubtedly man of the match and manager Brian McDermott had this to say about the Championship's top scorer:
"He has got four unbelievable goals today. Many people may not have noticed but he did a fantastic job down the left, he did a great job on their right back and he has done a fantastic job for the team. He scores an unbelievable volley and his last goal was top draw. He is a top player and you get him in an area to finish and he will."
