Despite having talks with the owners about clarifying transfer deals, Matt Smith remains our only signing to date. Meanwhile, Eric Lichaj, who was linked to the club by a number of media outlets after his release from Aston Villa, has signed for Nottingham Forest. Also, kevin doyle ruled out a return to Leeds despite reports saying a deal was as good as done. As July 1 approaches, the media have increasingly linked Leeds with all manner of players.

Kevin McHattie- Hearts (Scotland)
McHattie enjoyed a solid breakthrough season with Hearts last year after a spell out on loan with Alloa Athletic. He made 21 appearances, scoring once in the SPL and with Hearts in dire straits financially, the 19 year old full back could be available at a knockdown price. McHattie, who played in the academy at Dunfermline before switching to Tynecastle, has played 4 times for the Scottish under 21 side, having been called up for their most recent game against Luxembourg in March.
Daniel Niculae- Kuban Krasnodor (Russia)
Niculae, who has represented Romania 39 times was linked with a move to Elland Road this week alongside fellow Romanian Gabriel Tamas. Niculae, who currently plies his trade in Russia, is a 30 year old striker who enjoyed his best spells with his first two clubs, Rapid Bucharest and Auxerre. Niculae has not exactly been prolific at any of his clubs, but he is seen more as a player who can play as a second striker, which he did with devastating effect when playing at Auxerre, linking up excellently with Polish frontman, Ireneusz Jelen.
Gabriel Tamas- West Bromwich Albion
The second Romanian linked will be a much more familiar name to English football fans. Tamas, who has played for West Brom since January 2010, was linked this week with no new defensive signings seemingly on the horizon. The Romanian has played 63 times for the national team, including their most recent appearance at a major tournament, Euro 2008; in which they drew with Italy and France, before losing to Holland. Tamas has something of a badboy reputation and he was once banned by the Romanian FA for going out drinking the night before a game with Adrian Mutu.
Luke Murphy- Crewe Alexandra
The 23 year old midfielder was linked today by a fellow Leeds blog, the scratching shed. At only 23 years of age, Murphy has age on his side and would certainly be one of the younger members of a fairly old Leeds squad. He has made 186 appearances after coming through the famed youth setup at Crewe which has produced the likes of Danny Murphy, Dean Ashton and current Scum starlet, Nick Powell. Murphy has managed 21 goals in his time at the Alexandra Stadium, with his most important being the goal that sealed victory in the Football League Trophy against Southend last season, the club's only 'major' trophy to date.
OUTS
Steve Morrison- Millwall
For the first week since Week 1, a Leeds player has been moved away from the club and it will be of little surprise that Morrison has been linked with a return to the club where he enjoyed his best spell of football, Millwall. Morrison has had a poor start to his Leeds career, bar one game (Palace away in which he scored twice). However, he wasn't given much of a chance and was immediately expected to replace the free scoring Becchio, despite not being match fit. Today Steve Lomas siad this about Morrison.

“You can rest assured I’ve spoken to a lot of agents and people at other clubs.
“By all accounts I’ve been linked with every player!
“Steve Morison had a really good spell here.
“I think what it is is basically people putting two and two together.
“There is no doubt we are looking at not just the striker area but all attacking areas to try and get some more goals in the team.
